Why You need a Web Page

The Internet is the fastest growing method of advertising.  We could tell you lots of reasons that make sense but the most convincing one is because it works!  Why are the first ones to have a web presence still doing it?  It works!  Short and simple.  You already know it is true, you see the evidence on the web everywhere ... and you see the advertising for the website itself on TV, in magazines and newspapers, and you hear it on radio.  Up until the growth of the modern day Internet, TV has been the most effective forms of advertising.  You never read on a website "See our TV ads for more details."  The website can offer all that the other forms of advertising can offer, like sound, and video, plus give detailed information on the product, display coupons, even take orders and fill them, all on your Internet website.

The Internet is not new.  It has proved itself.  Those little computers are not going away.  But is your business?  If you want to stay, you gotta play.  I'm not telling you anything new here.

When are you going to do it?  When are you going to catch up?  When are you going to stop missing out?  The ball is in your court.  It's your decision.

If you don't already have a website, I already know why you don't; I've already heard it hundreds of times, and I understand why.  It's new, right? and its scary.  But it isn't new any longer, and it isn't scary; everyone else is doing it.

"How do I go about doing it?   How much will it cost?  I don't even have a computer myself.  How many of my customers have a computer?"

Another peculiar thing I have heard is this, "My line of business doesn't need a website. My customers are all local." At the same time, I know many of the companies doing the same type of business already had a website, and they weren't dropping it. Some types of business learned that with a website, their business could be more than local. Others learned that having a website, better served their local clients. If nothing better than being able to find out the opening hours for a business, local users search for a website of local companies, because they "expect" the company to have a website. If you don't, you are missing out. Your competition has beat you to the punch.

Now that you know you have to do this, let me tell you some other interesting things.  Let's brainstorm for just a moment.  What would your website offer?  Is it a service? or an organization?  Maybe you only need to have a way to get information out to the rest of the world, you are not wanting to make money with your website, only get the word out about your company, location, etc.  You could install an 800 number and hire someone to answer questions all day.  How much would that cost, don't forget advertising the 800 number.  For a lot less, you can provide a lot more information, 24 hours a day, and allow a lot more people to get access to the information at the same time.  It's economics, plain and simple.

If you have a product or service, you can go beyond just getting the word out, you can take money in.  You can have an online presence and introduce your business to the world, 24 hours a day at minimal cost.  You can show your products, services, examples of your work, or the people in your organization.   You can offer coupons to encourage visitors to visit your website again and again.  This will allow you to introduce new ideas, products, or services, and get the information out to the individuals that are more likely to be interested.

You can easily update information.  You don't have to wait until the new catalog is printed, or the next Sunday's advertisements come out.  You can update your website at any time.

When your customers can view your products and services at their own leisure, they will know in advance what you offer.  When they show up at your business, they are ready to buy.

You can have interactive sessions with users, they can give feedback, fill out forms, request additional or specific information, or request to be placed on a newsletter mailing list.  Your newsletter can be sent by regular mail or e-mail, and even handled automatically.

You can display text, graphics, animated banners, audio, and even video.  You can have tours, train the users on products, allow downloads of data, text, or entire applications.  If your product is data, you can even deliver products over the Internet.  Users can place their own orders without any involvement from you the vendor.  Authorized Credit Card processing centers can handle the charges.  Money is transferred to your account and you could be vacationing in Australia the entire time.

You already know these things can be done, but I mean you specifically can also do this and at minimal costs.  Look at the potential for the return.
